ADVOCATING FOR IMPROVED PRISON CONDITIONS.

OUR MISSION

The Mission of Parents 4 Prison Reform is to affect positive change in the United States Corrections/Prison system by ensuring the needs of inmates are met in four (4) areas: basic needs, education, ending prolonged isolation, and prison oversight.

We will accomplish these goals by creating awareness, engaging legislators, and encouraging the parents of the incarcerated.

WHO WE ARE

Parents 4 Prison Reform is a non profit organization dedicated to the reform of the prison system in the U.S.

We began as a few mothers of incarcerated sons concerned about the well being and futures of our sons. None of us realized until we were in this situation just how deplorable the conditions in prisons are. A severe lack of basics such as food, medical care, and educational opportunities face the inmates of our country. Positive change is long overdue and we want to be part of this reform. We want to effect change not only for our own children but for all prisoners.

Living a life of incarceration is exceedingly difficult and so is living the life of a parent of a prisoner. At P4PR we want to do all we can to improve the lives of prisoners and in doing so improve the lives of their parents.

Today there are almost 2,000,000 people in prison in the United States. Living conditions are deplorable in most of our prisons and jails. There is little edible food, grossly inadequate healthcare, very few educational opportunities, and violent dangerous living conditions. Many correctional institutions do not even have heat or air conditioning.
